AI KYB and Business Verification Tools Comparison 2026: Middesk, Alloy, Persona and 7 More (Pricing & Free Plans)

We compared 10 AI KYB and business verification tools, including Middesk, Alloy, Persona and Socure, on pricing, free plans, Japanese support, platforms, strengths and weaknesses, with picks by goal and an FAQ (vendor websites checked in November 2026).

Choosing an AI KYB and business verification tool is harder than it looks. Many vendors do not publish prices, and "KYB" can mean different things. Some tools pull registry data directly, some rely on partner data, and some focus on sanctions screening. Coverage of Japanese companies and Japanese-language support are often unclear.

This article compares ten tools: Middesk, Alloy, Persona, Socure, Sumsub, Trulioo, D&B Compliance Intelligence, Sardine, ComplyAdvantage, and Veriff. For each one, we look at pricing, free plans or trials, Japanese support, supported platforms, strengths, and weaknesses. We compared them using each vendor's official website, checked in November 2026.

After the tool-by-tool review, you will find recommendations by goal and practical buying tips. Where a vendor does not publish information, we say so instead of guessing. Check the official website for the latest pricing and features before you decide.

What Are AI KYB and Business Verification Tools? What They Do and What to Know Before Choosing

AI KYB (Know Your Business) tools help you confirm that a company is real, who owns it, and whether it carries risk. They combine registry data, ownership checks, and sanctions screening. Many now add AI agents that investigate discrepancies, summarize cases, or suggest decisions for a human reviewer.

Typical uses, based on the features in the tools we reviewed, include:

  • Business existence checks: confirming legal name, registration status, and tax ID against government registries.
  • Ownership and UBO identification: finding ultimate beneficial owners and verifying their identities.
  • Sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening: checking companies and related people against watchlists.
  • Ongoing monitoring: reviewing a business after onboarding when ownership or registration status changes.
  • AI-assisted review: summarizing cases, investigating registration discrepancies, and recommending next steps.

Before choosing, check what a free plan or trial actually covers. Persona offers a 60-day trial, Sumsub a 14-day trial, and Veriff a 15-day trial. However, KYB is often a separate or higher-tier feature. In Sumsub and Veriff, for example, business verification is listed under custom or Enterprise plans, so the self-serve trial may not include it.

Pricing models also differ. Some vendors publish per-check or per-evaluation prices, such as Sumsub, Veriff, and Socure Launch. Others publish monthly plans, such as Persona and ComplyAdvantage. Several, including Middesk, Alloy, Trulioo, and Sardine, use custom quotes only.

Japanese support needs separate checks. Look at the interface language, the documentation, and whether Japanese company data is covered. These can differ within one product. Also consider company size, since some tools suit small teams with self-serve plans and others suit enterprise review stacks. Finally, check platforms such as dashboard, API, SDK, and MCP. Confirm the final decision with a qualified professional where compliance obligations apply.

Features, Pricing, and Best For: 10 Tools

1. Middesk

Middesk is a KYB (business verification) platform for financial institutions, fintechs, and payment providers that onboard business customers in the U.S. It confirms a business's existence, tax ID, owners, and sanctions risk in one place, using Secretary of State registration records and IRS cross-checks. It also offers AI Investigation, which examines registration discrepancies, and Middesk Agents for CIP, CDD, EDD, and merchant risk.

  • Strengths: According to the official website, it aggregates more than 400 government and public data sources. A single API call can run registration checks, owner identification, and sanctions screening.
  • Strengths: The official website says about 70% of verifications are completed without analyst intervention, which is designed to reduce manual review. AI Investigation and Middesk Agents can also assist with research such as EDD, and analysts review the agents' results.
  • Strengths: It integrates with Alloy, Socure, Sardine, Incode, Taktile, Footprint, and others, so it is easy to call from an existing review stack. The developer documentation also provides an MCP server for AI clients.
  • Things to note: The main focus is U.S. businesses. The list of covered countries for International Business Verification is not public, so it cannot be confirmed whether Japan is included. Verification outside the U.S. is for Verify plan customers and requires applying through sales or an account manager.
  • Things to note: The website and documentation are in English only, and Japanese support is not stated. Pricing is also not public, so you must request a quote through a demo.

Pricing: Contact sales. There is no pricing on the official website, and /pricing returns a 404. You get a custom quote via Get a demo. International Business Verification is for Verify plan customers (apply through your account manager or sales). Check the official website for the latest pricing and features.

Best for: Financial institutions, fintechs, and payment providers that need to confirm the existence and risk of U.S. business customers before account opening, merchant review, or credit review. Teams that need to verify Japanese businesses should ask about covered countries before adopting it.

2. Alloy

Alloy is an identity decisioning platform that connects external data partners through a single API and orchestration layer. It automates KYC, KYB, fraud prevention, and AML decisions for banks and fintechs. According to the official website, more than 900 financial institutions and fintechs use it.

For KYB, it verifies a business's existence, ownership structure, and ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs). The business goes to the KYB workflow, and the UBOs go to KYC, fraud, and AML workflows in parallel.

  • Strengths: KYB, UBO KYC, AML, and fraud checks can be managed together in a single API and workflow. Alloy promotes "perpetual KYB," which keeps reviewing a business after onboarding and triggers a review only when a significant change occurs.
  • Strengths: According to the official website, it connects to more than 300 data partners. The KYB page names Trulioo, Sumsub, Middesk, and LexisNexis Risk Solutions as partner vendors, which makes it easier to use or switch between data vendors.
  • Strengths: AI Assistant summarizes cases and suggests next actions. It also recommends whether sanctions list hits are true or false matches, conducts social media research, reviews documents, and performs EDD as needed.
  • Things to note: Pricing is not public, and the configuration changes with the data partners and modules you use. You need to sort out the checks you require before requesting a quote.
  • Things to note: KYB data comes from partner vendors, so supported countries and retrievable fields depend on the vendors you use. The website exists only in U.S. and U.K. versions, and support for Japanese registration or the Japanese language is not mentioned.

Pricing: Contact sales (no pricing on the official website. Custom quote via Schedule a demo)

Best for: Banks and fintechs that want one decisioning layer for KYB, UBO KYC, AML, and fraud, and that can combine several data vendors. Platforms include a dashboard, API, Web SDK, and iOS and Android webviews, plus a sandbox. Buyers handling Japanese businesses should confirm partner coverage first.

  • Things to note: The full KYB suite (UBO KYC, international registry matching, industry classification) is Growth or higher, and Growth and Enterprise pricing is not public. Essential's Business Verification is a U.S.-only add-on and is not enabled immediately after you apply.
  • Things to note: Countries supported by international registry matching are not listed on public pages, so Japanese business support cannot be confirmed. Unused services in Essential do not carry over to the next month.

Pricing: Free trial 60 days (up to 50 services, Sandbox only by default) / Startup Program (application required, 1 year, monthly free allowance for some products) / Essential from $250/month (annual contract, includes 500 services per month, $1.50/service for overages. • Things to note: Use requires provisioning and feature flag setup, and input fields include U.S.-based information such as SSN. A Japanese UI and support for Japanese registration are not mentioned.

The official Knowledge Hub explains that Business Verification in Japan includes the National Tax Agency's corporate number. How to Choose Without Regrets

Check whether KYB is in the plan you can try

Free trials and published prices often do not include KYB. Sumsub lists Business Verification as a Custom plan feature, and Veriff lists it only under Enterprise. Persona's Essential plan offers only a U.S.-limited Business Verification add-on.

Ask the vendor exactly which KYB features the trial covers before you plan a pilot.

Match the pricing model to your volume

Sumsub and Veriff charge per check with monthly minimums. Persona and ComplyAdvantage use monthly plans, and Socure Launch is usage-based per evaluation. Middesk, Alloy, Trulioo, D&B Compliance Intelligence, and Sardine use custom quotes.

Estimate your monthly volume first, then compare. Remember that overages and add-ons, such as Persona's $1.50 per service or Veriff's +$0.64 for PEP and sanctions screening, affect the total.

Verify Japanese support in three parts

Japanese support has three parts: the interface, the documentation, and Japanese company data. Sumsub covers the interface and lists Japanese data sources. Persona and Veriff support Japanese in identity verification flows, but KYB coverage of Japan is not confirmed on public pages.

Trulioo lists Japan as a supported country, while its site is in English only. Ask each vendor which fields are retrievable for Japanese companies. None of the official pages we checked states compliance with Japan's Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, so confirm Japanese regulatory requirements separately.

Decide whether you need registry data, screening, or both

Tools differ in what they do. Middesk and Trulioo focus on registry-based verification, while ComplyAdvantage's Company Screening focuses on risk data and relies on external data for registry checks. Alloy and Socure combine partner data with decisioning.

Map your required checks first, then see which tools cover them directly.

Consider company size and existing systems

Enterprise-oriented tools such as Alloy and D&B Compliance Intelligence suit larger review stacks. Self-serve options suit smaller teams. Check platforms too, such as API, SDK, and MCP. Confirm the final decision with a qualified professional where legal obligations apply.
